Petition ready for signing -- Monday, January 16

Your Board of Directors is petitioning the Moore County Commission to remove the McLendon Hills subdivision from the Eagle Springs fire protection service district and incorporate it into the Seven Lakes fire protection service district.

If successful, this action will reduce your homeowners’ insurance premium by an estimated 25%. The lower premium results from the Seven Lakes station having a better response rating than the Eagle Springs station. Some insurance agents have sold residents policies indicating that their homes were in the Seven Lakes district. We have been informed that insurers, once the error is discovered, have increased the resident’s annual premium by hundreds of dollars.

Our success in convincing the Commissioners to make this change will depend heavily on the number of residents signing the petition. A source within county government stated we’ll need 100% of the residents to sign the petition to ensure its success. All persons named on your deed may sign the petition. Owners of more than one lot may sign only once.

Copies of the petition will be available for signing Monday, January 16 at the McLendon Hills Sales Office and at the Equestrian Center. If you wish to sign and cannot get to either of the signing locations, call any member of the Board of Directors for assistance.

Please take a few minutes of your time to sign this important petition. This effort definitely is in the best interests of all current and future McLendon Hills residents.

New procedures for Architectural Review

This is a reminder that all plan packages for new construction must be complete and submitted to the ARB through CAS. ARB forms and instructions are available on the McLendon Hills web site. Incomplete plans will not be considered for approval. It is the owner’s responsibility to review all community guidelines prior to committing to a building plan. If the owner is proposing a plan that deviates from the Covenants, a request for a variance must be submitted stating why the project cannot comply with the specified requirements. Revised Fishing Rules

In order to rejuvenate the bass population in Lake Troy Douglss and to thin out the over-abundance of small bass, The Lake and Wildlife Committee has made a change to the “catch and release” program currently in effect. Effective immediately and until further notice, all fish caught, except for large mouth bass over 12 inches, may be taken and not released back into the water. The Lake and Wildlife Committee asks that you keep an informal record of what you catch and remove from the lake so they can monitor the success of the revised program. This information can be passed on to Chuck Kayser at 673-1647 or via email at chasthered@aol.com.
